How much would a mechanic shop charge for total brake change?

01 Dodge Neon how much do you think they would charge to replace both rotors both drums and both pads and shoes.

Just labor and stuff. Dont includethe price of the parts !How much would a mechanic shop charge for total brake change? Both sides meaning both backs or both fronts? Most places charge around $100 an hour for labor (dealerships) should be about 3 hours labor for rears. How much would a mechanic shop charge for total brake change?Probably somewhere around $250 just for labor as most shops charge around $50 an hour for labor and it's going to be in the shop for at least that. How much would a mechanic shop charge for total brake change?depending on if u wanted the drums and rotors turned or replaced.....the shop i worked at would have charged like this: turned with replacing pads in the front would have been 2.2 hours, turning drums and replacing shoes would have been 2.5---so 4.7 hours x 85 dollars an hour = 399.50 in labor----having them replaced would have been 1.5 x 85 and then 2.0 x 85 so that would be 297.50---thats all labor prices....so kind of expect something close to thatHow much would a mechanic shop charge for total brake change?a cheap mechanic would charge you 60 to 80 bucks - if your going to a shop- your talking over 150 on a good day on a bad day (for the mechanic) 300 bucksHow much would a mechanic shop charge for total brake change?Labour

How difficult is it to Change break pads on a 03 jetta. Do you need specials tools?

I'm pretty handy and have changed breakpads on my honda but have just bought a 03 jetta and would like to work on that also. How difficult is it, what special tools are needed, and what are cost of rotors? Also how do you do it?How difficult is it to Change break pads on a 03 jetta. Do you need specials tools?basically the same as any car,no special tools needed..How difficult is it to Change break pads on a 03 jetta. Do you need specials tools?Yes yu do need special tools that are expensive.

Some friends of mine tried to do it without the special tools and it took them 2 hours for 1 brake pad.

With the tools, it would take 20min.

Ask a mechanic for the names of the tools.

It is slightly difficult. You do need experience or you should watch another person do it so you can learn it.

Ford Freestyle rear rotor?

Does anyone know how to get the rear rotor off of a 2005 ford freestyle? We went to change the pads and found that the rotor is ate up on the back side of just 1 of the rear rotors, but we cant get the thing off. There is some type of a bolt / screw towards the middle of the rotor that looks like it would need a star bit to get it off but all of the ones we have used havent worked. PLEASE HELPFord Freestyle rear rotor?Yes you will need a big star bit to remove but be careful not to strip the star bolt then you are really in trouble I think its a 40 -45 not sure now I just repaired brakes on son van had the same thing , Make sure you use a 38 ratchet and a socket That will fit the star bit and apply pressure to it as you turn the star bolts have lock tight on them , Here is something else to consider you will not need those bolts after you remove them they just are there th hold them on at the factory, hope this helps.Ford Freestyle rear rotor?contact your local ford dealer to see if it is part of an owner satisfaction program for rear brake pad inspection/replacement and rotor replacementFord Freestyle rear rotor?I use a torx bit (forget the size) and their is a tool you can buy at the local discount auto parts store called a impact driver... You use a hammer to hit on it, and it will transmit the force to loosen the bolt. It's the best thing I've found to get them bolts off.

And the recall is only good for 3 year 36k miles (60k Canada) which ever comes first.

Can someone give me an idea what could be wrong with my car?

I have a 1992 civic. D16z6. When i drive it, the car starts sputtering, and when it idles i'll give it gas it does the same thing. I took it somewhere to get fixed, and he said it was a bad fuel pressure regulator, so he fixed it with a used one. i drove it to florida from pennsylvania, drove it some more, then drove back. That's about 4000 miles, and now it's doing it again, so I bought a brand new fuel pressure regulator, and it's STILL doing it. I've changed the spark plug wires, (the plugs look fine) the fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, and distributor. I don't know what else it could be. The only thing i could think is i didn't change the cap and rotor, but idk....Any thoughts on how i can put this problem to an end?Can someone give me an idea what could be wrong with my car?TRY CHANGING THE FUEL FILTERCan someone give me an idea what could be wrong with my car?you forgot the fuel filter. Can someone give me an idea what could be wrong with my car?O2 sensorCan someone give me an idea what could be wrong with my car?Cap and rotor should have been changed with the distributor. Caliper screw stuck?

We attempted to change the brakes. Lucky us one of the screws to remove the caliper was stuck. My dad wore down the screw intending to replace it once it was removed. We couldn't take the caliper off to reach the brake pads. So we took the car to tire kingdom and had to pay $120 for new brakes (front brakes). The mechanic there couldn't get the screw off either (he said it was frozen, is this common). So he changed the brakes with rotors that needed to be resurfaced. My dad says that the brake pads will probably conform to the shape of the bad rotor and be unusable later.

So my question is, how do i remove a caliper with a frozen screw to replace it?Caliper screw stuck?you will have to heat it up to loosen the bolt and use WD-40 before you heat it up, you should be able to get some large vice grips on the bolt if you have it rounded off.Caliper screw stuck?Soak it with some penetrating liquid (ie. plus gas, wd40, etc..) for a few hours then use mole grips to undo the screw.Caliper screw stuck?I don't understand the question, need more info, what make of car are you talking about.Caliper screw stuck?heat it up with a hand held torch not red hot

Engine light came on - Code P0303 Misfire in cylinder 3. Helpppppppppp.?

2000 Honda Civic EX (4 cylinder) 159,000 miles.

I took it to Autozone and they told me it was code P0303. I did some research on line and so far this can be the cause...Faulty Spark Plugs, Faulty Spark Plug Wires, Coil Pack, Fuel Injector. The guy at Autozone told me that I should change the distributor cap, rotor, plugs and wires. Is changing all of this necessary? About how much will all this cost? Any ides as to where I should start? I don't want to start changing parts that don't need to be changed. I'm hoping it's only the spark plugs since I haven't changed them in years (I know!). Are these parts hard to replace...is it something I can do or do I need to take it to a pro?Engine light came on - Code P0303 Misfire in cylinder 3. Helpppppppppp.?My daughter does her own tune-ups on her Civic. These parts should be replaced more often than every eight years, sis (check your owners manual). The whole kit should be around $100, and it will save you money with the better gas mileage you will get.Engine light came on - Code P0303 Misfire in cylinder 3. Helpppppppppp.?Auto zone cannot always give you the exact part that is going bad. But the sad this is it can be any of those. Have you checked the gap on the spark plug, or ever had them replaced? Make sure that sprak plug wire is connected securely too. Hondas only have one coil, so if it was bad or going bad you'd know it. It only has one pack for all 4 cylinders. 2nd have someone check the distributor cap, as there could be some corrosion on the tabs inside and just needing cleaned off. If you take any spark plug wires off do 1 at a time that way you will remeber the firing sequence.Engine light came on - Code P0303 Misfire in cylinder 3. Helpppppppppp.?honestly the ODBII lights can light up if you have one misfire... the question is whether the car is running fine. If it is then dont' even worry about it...if you think you need spark plugs then change them and while your at it go ahead and change the plug wires.... but dont assume that the light knows all and tells all.... I've had the lights pop on simply because I washed the engine and then started the car before the engine was completely dry.Engine light came on - Code P0303 Misfire in cylinder 3. Helpppppppppp.?I would start with the plugs. However make sure you get NGK or Denso plugs, do not use AUTOLIGHT, CHAMPION or BOSCH plugs. The problem with trying to fix your car from a code is its only a starting point for what could be the problem. If it's been year since you changed the plugs how long for the cap and rotor? These also can wear out over time. The reason Autozone does the free scan is so they can sell you the parts to fix it so while he may be correct in saying re place everything, if your trying to save money start with the plugs and then the cap and rotor and wires last.I would not worry much about the coil if it was bad you would most likly have more than one mis-fire code.Engine light came on - Code P0303 Misfire in cylinder 3. Helpppppppppp.?Start with the least expensive thing or take it to a shop.

Start with the plugs they are like $10 if you can replace them yourself.

Very unlikely it is the injector.Engine light came on - Code P0303 Misfire in cylinder 3. Helpppppppppp.?Never put a part on just because it could be a problem - diagnose first! First you should remove the #3 spark plug and check it for fouling (you should be able to find pictures of spark plugs that have been run under different conditions easily online if you've never done plugs before). If it is fouled, then you know it is part of the problem, but you don't know it is the problem. Next inspect the wire for carbon tracking, tears in the insulation, corrosion on the metal contacts or discoloration. Also check the resistance in the wire and make sure it is not too high. Remove the distributor cap and check inside for burns, cracks, carbon tracking and corrosion on the cap and rotor. Inspect the rotor button (metal contact) for wear as well and make sure the contacts inside the cap are in good condition. If you have done this in the past 30K it is unlikely unless your cap has a water leak or the wire has been installed but not run through the holders or damaged, but if it has not been serviced in a long time, spark is likely your problem. An injector check is more difficult. You can use a noid light to check injector pulse (make sure the wiring is working properly), but you may need to take it to a shop to check injector flow unless you have this equipment at home.

This is what your initial research missed. While it is highly unlikely that this is your problem because many engine problems present with noise as well as a misfire, I cannot let an internal engine problem go unmentioned as a possible cause. If everything else is good (or you want to skip the fuel system check because you don't have the equipment), you can get a compression tester or take it to a shop for this step. Remove the spark plugs and check the dry compression on each cylinder. If you notice a drop of more than 20% on cylinder 3 you've found your problem. Then you should do a wet compression test (add a SMALL amount of oil to cyl 3 and check the compression again). If the compression improves, the problem is the piston rings and if it does not it is likely in the valvetrain. Here's another part where you can get stuck without expensive equipment - unless you want to tear into your engine, if the wet and dry compression checks are bad you will need to do a leakdown test by pumping air into the cylinder on the compression stroke (valves closed and piston at the top of its stroke) and determining where it leaks out. If it comes out the intake, it is an intake valve problem, if it comes out the exhaust it is and exhaust valve problem, if it goes into the crankcase, it is a block problem and otherwise it is a warped/cracked head or head gasket problem. The head gasket is a very involved repair, but there are a lot of people that can do it themselves by sending the head to a machine shop to be inspected and installing a new head gasket and head bolts if the head passes inspection or can be machined. Most machine shops will do any valvetrain repairs you need as well. A block problem condemns the engine. The other problems are a cost analysis of whether it is better to fix or replace the engine cost wise. Since I can build an engine, I would likely fix it, but if I had to pay for labor I might reconsider that. Be sure to get an estimate both ways if it comes to that so you can see the difference in the warranty and price.

If your Maxima is front wheel drive the rear rotor probably has a wheel bearing in it that is held with a large nut which has to be removed to remove the rotor. Use a C-clamp to press the %26quot;puck%26quot; back into the caliper so new pads can be installed. How tricky is it to do a brake job on a 2000 Ford F250 4x4?

I want to know about changing just front pads and rotors on this truck. I've only worked on older cars (1979 and earlier), and I've never done a brake job on anything that had ABS or that was 4 wheel drive. Are there any special tools or procedures I need to be aware of?

I'm trying to help someone out and save them some money by doing the work myself instead of sending them to a mechanic. Any advice would be very helpful. Thanks. How tricky is it to do a brake job on a 2000 Ford F250 4x4?I probably shouldn't be telling you how to do this job, but here it goes. Jack up and support the front of the vehicle, making sure the rear wheels are blocked safely. Remove all eight 21mm wheel nuts on both front wheels. Remove the wheels. Turn front wheels fully to the left. Remove the two 17 or 18mm caliper bolts. Remove the caliper, taking care not to let the caliper hang by the flex hose. You make need to unclip the wheel speed sensor harness from the flex hose clips. With a long johnson bar and 1/2%26quot; drive 21mm socket, loosen and remove the two 21mm brake caliper bracket bolts. Remove the caliper bracket with the brake pads. Using one of the old brake pads and a pair of channel lock pliers, compress BOTH caliper pistons evenly, until both pistons are bottomed out. With a suitably sized hammer, smash the brake rotor off the hub. Clean the hub surface with sandpaper, and apply a light coat of anti-seize to the hub. Install new brake rotor, and secure rotor to hub temporarily with two wheel nuts. Reinstall the caliper bracket with the new pads and anti-rattle clips. Reinstall the brake caliper. Turn wheel all the way to the right, and repeat entire procedure described. Once all is done, PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO MOVE IT. Torque wheel nuts to 140 ft.-lbs. You do not need to disturb anything with the 4x4 system, or ABS for this job. Nor are any special tools required. Hope this helps.

  • I have a 1988 ford escort lx and i am looking to get some work done on it?

just about how much should i pay to do a tune up. Spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor, plug wires, oil change, air filter, fuel filter, please help me out I have a 1988 ford escort lx and i am looking to get some work done on it?You should do most of it. It's very easy and kind of hard to screw it up.

Air Filter: Remove the cover, lift old filter right up, lay the new filter down, Replace the cover. (By far the easiest)

Oil change: Lift front of car with jack and use jack stands for the love of god. Slightly Loosen drain plug with a ratchet. (the screw at the bottom of the engine drain pan. Its by itself and hard to miss). Place a container to drain the oil into under the plug before completely removing the drain plug. The oil will run right out. Then unscrew the oil filter by hand. Use some of the new oil to coat the rubber part of the top of the new oil filter and screw it on by hand. When the oil is done draining screw the plug back in and fill the engine with new oil.

(This is also very easy to do. And you wont have any of those horror stories about people who were screwed by the shop and drove off with no oil in their cars.)

Plug Wires: (Extremely easy) Most people do them at the same time as the spark plugs but if you feel nervous about it you can do the wires first. Pull the distributor end of one wire. Then carefully follow the wire to its Plug and remove that end. Find the new Wire that matches the length of the old one and connect it to the plug and distributor. BE sure to route it the same way and only do one at a time to avoid confusion. Repeat for all wires.

Spark Plugs (Medium): Make sure they are all gapped correctly and apply boot grease to the tops (non threaded ends) of each plug. You can ask someone at the parts store to help you with this. Pull the boot off a plug. Use your ratchet with an extension if necessary to remove the old plug. Insert the new plug and tighten with ratchet. Replace boot. Do this for every plug. Make sure you have a magnet on hand just in case you cant pull a plug out after unscrewing it.

As for the distributor cap and rotor and the fuel filter, You might need the shop to do that for you. But in the end you would save a ton of money by doing the simple stuff yourself.I have a 1988 ford escort lx and i am looking to get some work done on it?Book time shouldn't be more than a hour and a half... Plus the cost of parts.

Calculating this is basically, labor rate times a hour and a half plus the cost of parts... And what kind of parts. New or old car, I almost always suggest OEM. Motorcraft are easy to get at any Murrays, Advance Auto etc.

    Good luck.

If I want a back yard mech. to do it, and change front brake pads, how much in labor should it be???What does putting a brake rotor on a 2000 Escort zx2 entail? On the Ford Focus, it is just a matter of taking off the wheel, unbolting the caliper, removing the pad and rotor and reversing the process with the new materials. I would imagine no more than 30 minutes per wheel. Shops usually charge $50+ an hour. You do the math.

If a starter turns can it still be faulty?

I have been having problems with my 89' S-10. I took the starter off, the teeth looked good on both the starter and the fly wheel, and the starter turns when atempting to start the truck. Can the starter still be faulty?

Hear is the run down of what's been up.

When I turn the key the engin turns, but fails to start. Every so often it acks like it will start but dosen't. So I changed the plugs, and it worked for a week or two. At that point I changed the plug wires, cap, rotor button and checked the fuses. I made shure to put every thing back together the way it had came off. it started and I drove to work and back, and now ti dosn't start at all. At this point I take the distributer cap back off inspect it put it back on.... nothing. My next step is checking for fuel and spark. it's getting fuel and spark, how ever the spark from the coil is white, and the spar from the plugs are reddish orange. The battery seems too have a good charge. And now I am at a loss of what to do.If a starter turns can it still be faulty? The above answers are all pretty good. I, however, believe you may have a faulty coil. Because it sparks and has fuel, and sometimes starts and sometimes doesn't, I think you may have a weak coil or at least a bad connection somewhere in the coil wiring system. Another possibility is engine compression is too low.If a starter turns can it still be faulty?its mechanic time, tell him (or her)what you have done so far, and its not the starterIf a starter turns can it still be faulty?if your starter works then the battery has still got some charge left in it.

if you notice sparks then i guess the ignition system is fine.

have you tried checking the carburetor?

have the cylinders checked for compression leaksIf a starter turns can it still be faulty?check your firing order of the plugwires also chech and make sure that the pickup coil is not damaged. If a starter turns can it still be faulty? Two quite different symptoms may be noticed in a car that refuses to start. If the engine will not fire when the starter motor turns it over, the fault must be in the ignition or the fuel supply. But if the starter motor itself does not function, the fault must be in the motor or its associated electrics.

It is likely that the fault is not with the starter motor itself but with the power supply system. To check this possibility, in cases where there is no response when the starter is operated, begin again and turn the key one position to put it into the ignition on position. The ignition warning light should come on and the fuel gauge register. If they do not no power is leaving the battery. This will be because the battery is flat or the connections at the terminals are at fault.

    Flat Battery.

If the headlights or any other major power consumer have been left on for any length of time, the battery will become completely flat and must be recharged before the engine can be started in the normal way.

    Faulty Battery Post Connections.

If the battery itself is in order, the loss of power may be caused by faulty connections between the battery and the starter. The 榩ost?connections on top of the battery are always suspect. In extreme conditions ?icy weather for example ?a starter motor can take 400 amps to turn the engine over. Any faulty connection will prevent such currents from flowing, but may nevertheless pass the much smaller currents demanded by the ignition lights.

A quick clue as to the condition of the connections can be had by touching the positive terminal of the battery, marked +, immediately after you try to start the car. If it feels hot, the connection is poor.

Corrosion may have begun on the inside of the clamp, on the post or both. A quick whisk with some sandpaper will restore the surface condition of both.

Battery clamps often become slightly oval inside due to corrosion. So when you replace the clamp try to place it in a slightly different position so that it presents a fresh face to the post.

With the 榟elmet?type of connection, a screw through the top locks the connection in place. If it has worked loose tighten it, but if this reduces no result, remove the screw, lift off the 榟elmet?and clean it and the post with emery paper.

If the battery connection will not come away from the post after it has loosened, trickle hot water over it. Never try to pull or twist it free as this risks cracking the battery case.

    Faulty Battery Cables.

If you can find nothing wrong with the battery connections, next check the battery cables. The braided metal lead to the earth connection is especially suspect because corrosion can creep along it attacking individual strands of wire until those remaining cannot carry the starting load. It is easy to be misled by an apparently sound lead as the corrosion often affects only the underside. Lift the lead so you can check it all round and if faulty replace it.

The earth connection on the body of the car should also be examined since rust can set up on the nut and bolt connection. Undo the connection, clean its faces with emery cloth and bolt it back into place. The area of metal around the bolt may also need cleaning.

The insulated live lead from the battery tends not to suffer from corrosion as much as the earth lead does, but an overfilled cell or a fine crack in the battery case can allow acid to escape, settle on the lead and work its way under the insulation. To test for problems in this area bend the lead to and fro several times. If it is corroded you will feel the grating of the fractured wires ?a sign that it must be replaced.

Turn the ignition key to the first position again and if the ignition light fails to come on try the horn and headlamps. If none work, the battery is completely flat. If the battery is providing power try to start the engine again.

If there is still no sign of life in the starter motor and the lights do not dim when you try to start the car, it is clear no power is reaching the starter. When the starter motor turns it drains off power from the lights and causes them to dim. So if the motor fails to turn and the lamps remain bright there are two possible faults. Either power is not reaching the starter motor or the motor itself is defective. If a starter turns can it still be faulty?Your problem is in the distributor. In 89-90 GM distributor had a habit of going bad. Look for a used one. Mark the position of the rotor, loosen the bolt and after pulling it out, put the new in the same way.

You can also check resistance by checking the stator to ground. GM recommends that before checking the car to depress the brake pedal with the key off in order to cut down on electrical resistance. I know that part sounds dumb but it's true.

The caliper does not retract to put the brake pads on the rotor. How do you change the rear brakes on a 2005 Ford Freestar? The caliper WILL retract or it or it's hose needs to be replaced. No cost at all 'cept for parts. How do you change the rear brakes on a 2005 Ford Freestar?Just got done doing this today. First if you want to save time go to AutoZone or some place that lets you take out tools you can return. Get the caliper retracter (you'll have to put down $55 for using it) trust me it will be well worth it.

If you are just getting started get 18mm wrench also

How do you change the rear brakes on a 2005 Ford Freestar?Use a pair of needle nose pliers and you turn the pistons back in to the caliper. If I remember correctly it's clockwise that you turn them. if the dust boot is not in the way you can use some channel locks but be very careful when using the channel locks as you can crack the piston. Then you will be forced to replace the caliper. How do you change the rear brakes on a 2005 Ford Freestar?two way or more to do it i always have used a big screwdriver before removing any bolt or pins and pry on the brake pads a bit.. if it dont move try releasing the bleeder while prying it. if that dont get it go a head and remove it and try a big c clamp... but look inside at piston if there is notches then its a screw type piston and you have to rent a tool to screw it back in it should just push back in.. should be kind of like this

1986 Honda CRX with blown head gasket. Help?

I was driving my CRX when she died on me. I got her to start again later, but ran extremely rough. After checking most things i found Oil in my coolant (radiator %26amp; Overflow) No coolant in my oil though. Automatically i'm thinking head gasket. I've worked on cars b4 doing small things (oil changes, plugs, wires, rotors, brakes, struts, water pump) How hard is it to do a head Gasket on 1986 CRX? Has anyone ever done one? Shes a cool little go kart of a car and does great on gas. Any advice/direction or comments would be appreciated. Thanks.1986 Honda CRX with blown head gasket. Help?the end is high.

the cylinder head could be cracked too.

its not worth the expense, trust me

I know that its honda and all but even honda will eventually breakdown especially after 22 years.. just get a slightly newer car.1986 Honda CRX with blown head gasket. Help? The head gasket replacement is not a hard job, BUT it is not a job for a novice either.

Buy a Chilton service manual. (The pro book is a better buy, Even if it is over 50.00) The 14.00 book tends to leave some blanks that I don't like.

If you have done a water pump, then I think you will be able to handle a 4 cyl. head gasket, just follow the procedure in the manual and be sure to buy new bolts or studs before you torque the head back on.

(You may want to get the head checked for warp or small cracks) It is CHEAP INSURANCE!!!

BTW, I disagree with the posts that say you need a %26quot;newer car%26quot; The CRX is a great little car.1986 Honda CRX with blown head gasket. Help?buy new car, head gasket is a garage job, needs skimming level to gurantee a new gasket kit would fix the problem of blwon original gasket. also the head may be cracked and a new or recon head would be pricy send her to the scarp yard in the sky.

How do you change the brake pads and rotors on a 2003 chevy cavalier?

I know that i can go buy a book at an auto parts store but i was just hoping that someone here could give me step by step instructions on how to do it. I wont be doing it by myself. and a slight secondary question: (i understand that i am being exceptionally sexist here but...) i assume most of the answerers of this question will be male, so how would you want your girlfriend to repay you for working on her car?How do you change the brake pads and rotors on a 2003 chevy cavalier?simple...jack the car up, put jack stands under and remove jack. then take off the front wheels to expose the rotors and caliper. there should be 2 bolts behind the caliper that hold it onto the bracket. take the bottom one out and swivel the caliper up and tie it to the control arm with some wire. then the pads should be exposed and you can just take them out. take out and clean everything with brake cleaner and wire brush, but wear a dust mask because the dust can be carcinogenic. to get the rotors off, take the caliper bracket off..there will be 2 bolts on the back of it. remove both and it will come off easily. then there should be 2 screws that hold the rotor onto the hub. use an impact driver, you can buy it auto zone or maybe Lowe's..(its a heavy duty screw driver that you hit with a hammer on the end and it turns out screws that are really tight without stripping the head., costs like 10 bucks)..then take both screws out and the rotor should come right off...then put new rotor on or have your old one machined and put the screws back in with the impact driver..put the caliper bracket on, then then the brake pads, but put anti squeal compound on the back of them then put them on bracket, then swivel caliper down, lube the hardware, and put ant sieze compunt on the threads of the bolts, then torque to propper specs. next you should bleed your brakes..buthat'sts not 100necessary.How do you change the brake pads and rotors on a 2003 chevy cavalier?Herte's a link for the repair info on the brakes....http://www.autozone.com/shopping/repairG

See, I have 2 laptops (one is my sisters, the other mine) and we both get our internet from the same rotor. And it works or whatever but it's a bit off on somedays.

But see my sister's laptop (this one) has the internet connection as (Access: Local and Internet) but mine says (Access: Local Only)...

How can I change it to Local and Internet?

Thanxx, your answers are appreciated..How do you change (Access: Local) to (Access: Local and Internet)? It would be helpful if you could specify what router you have. On you're router there should be MAC address filters. If you don't know what a MAC address is than open command prompt (start, run, cmd) or for vista just type cmd in the start menu. Once you know you're MAC address go into your router by going to internet explorer and typing something such as 192.168.0.1 for me at least. If you have for example a Motorola router you may see something such as wireless and MAC filters. Your MAC address is more than likely not allowed. Hope this helped :)How do you change (Access: Local) to (Access: Local and Internet)?REBOOT THE ROUTER. You lost the %26quot;handshake%26quot; between the two devices. Once you do that you will be ok. You may need to reboot the pc but I highly doubt that

A good way to repay me (well say it was me) would be just a really meaning ful %26quot;Thank You%26quot; I am not talking about a BJ or anything, just a Thank You, but other guys might be expecting a BJ or sommething, I just enjoy working on cars so it isint a big deal, and I espically love working on my girl friends car. Good Luck!!How do i change the brake pads and rotors on a 2003 chevy cavalier?A haynes manual costs about $20 and will help you learn most any repair aspects on your vehicle.

But for now, remove wheel, take off 2 hex head or torx head bolts on inside of caliper. Caliper slides off and both pads pop out. Push piston (behind one of the pads) back in to accommodate thickness in new pads. Pop off grease cap in middle of rotor. Pull cotter pin (keeps bolt from turning) loosen bolt. Pull rotor off. Pack grease into new bearings, and reinstall with new rotor, tighten bolt and install NEW cotter pin. Slide caliper back on, tighten hex heads and install wheel.

Take bf to Applebees for dinner. How do i change the brake pads and rotors on a 2003 chevy cavalier?take the tire off, remove the caliper and bracket, remove old pads and rotor, compress caliper with c-clamp or large pliers. CLEAN AND LUBE all friction areas ( where the pads touch the calipers and brackets, not on rotor however i clean and lube where the hub meets the rotor), put on new parts and reassemble. very easy for a mechanic, maybe you should just sit back and watch him this time and be sure to ask questions and make him feel like you needed him. i mean after all he is saving you a couple hundred bucks probably. as for repaying him..... wow what a concept.... uhh....how about a six pack and a cutchie coupon. How do i change the brake pads and rotors on a 2003 chevy cavalier? As for repaying the boyfriend, use your imagination !!! Best idea to start is to get some plastic gloves you can use. You will get dirty doing brakes. Remove the wheel and please remember to chock the wheels. You will see the caliper setting near the top and spray it with brake cleaner as you will be handling it a lot. Clean it good and give it a minute to dry. While waiting go under the hood and remove the top off the brake fluid reservoir. If it is just a screw cap on top then just loosen it well. The caliper that you have cleaned will have two bolts to hold them on. Remove them and pull caliper off the rotor. There is a cover in the center of the roter. Called a grease cap. Remove and there is a large nut with a cotter pin running through it. Straighten the pin and remove. Take large pliers and open them up to fit the nut. Remove the nut and the rotor will slide off. Put the new rotor on and replace the nut AND the cotter pin. If pin is old then buy a new one. Only pennies. Put the grease cap back on and you are in business. Now you will need a c-clamp to work on the new pads in the caliper. Attach clamp to the outside and the center of the brake pad. Slowly tighten the clamp and it will push old pads apart because new pads will be thicker. This is why you took the top off the fluid resivior to relieve the pressure. Replace the pads and you are ready to put the caliper back on. After alligning caliper then replace the bolts. STOP and before you do anything else replace any fluid you may need and put the cover back on the resivior. You did great and now ask the boyfriend to put the wheel back on. It's heavy and you are a girl !!! Come to think of it , cherry cheesecake is nice if served in the right place.....How do i change the brake pads and rotors on a 2003 chevy cavalier? The auto manual is the best way to go,will have step by step

    directions.

Car has problem starting on a hot, humid day and on the morning?

97 Toyota Collora has problem starting during a hot, humid day, especially in the morning. I need to turn the key many times before it got started.Everytime I turn the key, I hear some clicking sound. Toyata mechanic told me there was a dead spot on the starter. But I don't see how that links to the hot/humid cause. They said it could also be the wire/plug/cap/rotor set. They propose to change both starter and the wire/plug/cap/rotor set, with a charge of $750. Should I go for both or should I just replace the wire/plug/cap/rotor set or the starter?Car has problem starting on a hot, humid day and on the morning? It's your starter but it doesn't hurt to do a tune up like they suggested (wire/plug/cap/rotor). How long has it been since you had one? That will cause poor gas mileage and other problems.Car has problem starting on a hot, humid day and on the morning?the starterCar has problem starting on a hot, humid day and on the morning? On a hot day if the starter gets to hot it wont work. I recommend either putting your car in a garage or covered parking or just buying a performance starter.Car has problem starting on a hot, humid day and on the morning? It's your starter. The starter has coil winding inside and when current is run through the windings it causes the motor to turn. if there are a dead spot on the armature it will not move when the magnetic field tries to move it. Just believe your mechanic and have it replaced.Car has problem starting on a hot, humid day and on the morning?Yea, it sure sounds like the starter. That's what I could do. One more little test, if you can either go over the fender or crawl under neath it.

You will need someone to help you, When the starter is just %26quot;clicking%26quot; Hit it with something, hammer, the end of a broom, etc. While it is clicking. if it starts up, then you have a bad starter and you wont have to spend all the money now. Just replace the starter.

You many need a tune up still, but then you can manage to do that later. But don't forget, its a good thing for any engine.Car has problem starting on a hot, humid day and on the morning?First off,, what they was talking about was a major tune up,,but i have never heard of anyone charging that much for a tune up,,i own a repair shop in my town ,,and that price,,is unreal,,even if they did replace the starter it still wouldn't be no where near that price, what they told you would make it hard to start ,they told you right,,but the thing is you might not need all of that stuff,,you may just need a minor tune up,,and maybe a starter,,you need to go to another shop,,and get a second opinion on it,,sounds like there trying to over charge you badly here,,in my shop,,all of this might come to 350 bucks,,maybe a little more,,or possibly less,,it would depend on the price of the parts,,just do me a favor,,and at least get another opinion on it,,also ask why the price is high if they tell you about the same thing, because that is too much for that kind of job,,good luck,,i hope this help,s.Car has problem starting on a hot, humid day and on the morning?Have them check for moisture under the distribute cap. A problem about gyroscopic effect in an aeroplane .?

An aeroplane is travelling in the right hand direction [say x-axis]. rotor of the airplane is rotating in clockwise direction as seen from the origin. it takes a left turn i.e. it rotates anticlockwise about vertical axis [say y-axis] in the horizontal plane XOZ [O -%26gt; origin , Z -%26gt; z-axis]. torque applied to airplane to take a left turn is active gyroscopic torque.

Q.1 - What will be the direction of the angular acceleration caused due to change in angular velocity of the rotor [as it changed direction] ?

Q.2 - What will be the direction of the active gyroscopic torque and how to determine its direction ?

Can its direction be determined by the direction of angular acceleration as well as by the direction of the force applied to change the direction of motion of the plane ? Are both results same ? why ?

thnx for your support .. :)A problem about gyroscopic effect in an aeroplane .?if you are talking of a helicopter, the rotor is not rotating in the clockwise direction, the rotor of a helicopter moves in the anitclockwise direction and the left and right motion (change in direction) is done by the action of the tail rotor (increasing or decrasing the pitch angle of the tail rotor). no external torsion force is applied in a helicopter, (it is possible only in fixed wing aircrafts). direction change has nothing to do with main rotor, consider the helocopter is hovering, the change in direction of the nose dosnt change the parameters of main rotor as the wind is flowing from top to bottom. the tail rotor is used to nullify the effect of newtons third law of motion. (as the main rotor rotates, the body tends to move opposite to it.). The rotor can be divided to two halves, advancing half(the right hand side of the rotor disc) and retreating half. the advancing half have a blade velocity much greater than retreating half. please consider these parameters.A problem about gyroscopic effect in an aeroplane .?@ nithin

really , thank you for answering .. bt as i asked .. my problem is not about any specific real situation. i am asking to assume the situation [as mentioned in my question] , whether it's practically correct or not . the main problem is about the gyroscopic torque direction . please clear my doubt about this .. :)

Since you know little about the condition and configuration of the engine/fuel system, you are trying to fix something without knowing what to fix. Is this a stock engine or was it modified ( as in camshaft ). Is it worn out? How much compression do you have? Is your ignition timing correct? Do you know what the timing is supposed to be? Some chevys have a timing mark(ignition) which aligns at near the 12 o'clock position while others align at the two o'clock position. Are the correct cover and balancer on your engine or are they a mismatched set? If your camshaft is a performance grind, it will act badly in drive at idle. Some people over cam their engines not realizing the problems it can cause.

Your troubles are not insurmountable, but it sounds like it is beyond your skill level. Any mechanic who works on engines and engine tune can straighten it out for you.

How do I get out a break pad that is stuck between the rotor and the caliper?

My friend's car was squealing, I offered to help thinking it was an easy brakepad change... well it turns out that one of the pads came off and was stuck between the rotor and the caliper, he has a 96 honda passport??? i would take to a shop and have them deal with it because working on brakes is not a kids' game.

it's important to get it done right.

i don't know how the pad could get stuck between the rotor and the caliper..sounds odd to me.

the pad is supposed to reside between the rotor and the caliper.

the pistons from the caliper pushes it to the rotor to stop the car.

so how it gets stuck is very odd.

you may also want to check to see where the shims are.

maybe the person who put them in before you didn't properly put the shims on.

-i just figured out your problem.

you didn't use a C-clamp like your supposed to.

this is why you cannot remove the pads..and to you it seems like they are stuck..they are NOT stuck.

How do you get the front caliper off of a 1998 Ford Mustang?

The title says it all...I need to change the brake pads and rotors...but I can't get the caliper off.How do you get the front caliper off of a 1998 Ford Mustang?pull the wheel off,two bolts hold the caliper on,after u pull the caliper off,u can see the brake pads sitting in the caliper bracket,u can just pull those off,if u need to get to the rotors,u gotta take two more bolts out of the bracket, the rotor should just pull off or u might have to smack it with a hammer that is if its a pull of rotor,if its a rotor with wheel bearing in it u gotta take the dust cap off and take the nut off and along with the bearing, its fairly simple, hope that helps. How do you get the front caliper off of a 1998 Ford Mustang? You'll need 1/2 inch metric sockets and a minimum of a 12 inch ratchet. If a 12 inch ratchet doesn't get the bolts loose on the caliper and caliper bracket get a 16%26quot; breaker bar. To collapse the caliper piston before trying to remove the caliper from the caliper bracket use a carpenters screw clamp or a monster c-clamp.How do you get the front caliper off of a 1998 Ford Mustang? The calipers are held on by two bolts, the bolts have to come out of the caliper to come off that bracket. If you got that done and your having trouble getting the caliper off the rotor then you have to take some care and try to pry it off. The brake pads have worn down around the outer edge of the rotor and cant get passed a small lip that has built up there. Drain some brake fluid out of the caliper and see if that helps. That bracket has to come off, it might of had some lock-tite used on it. That will need some heat on it from a torch or a electric paint stripper to get the bolt loose.

  • How long will a worn brake rotor last?

My car has a worn down brake rotor and i cannot seem to locate one. How long will it last and what will happen if i do not change it asap? How long will a worn brake rotor last?Go to JC-whitney.com.

They should help you.How long will a worn brake rotor last? What do you mean by worn down are there just small shallow grooves in it? Or does it have real deep grooves and places that are gouged out?Either way you can have them turned just as long as they aren't down below the minimum thickness already if they are they need to be replaced but as far as how long they will last it will just eat up your brake pads sooner but past that you can still drive it normallyHow long will a worn brake rotor last?It will last until it break into two pieces, seen that a couple of times in my career.

Can I replace my brakes/rotors myself?

I have a 1999 Honda Accord and it needs new brakes and possibly rotors. I know brakes are easy to do but how about the rotors? Are any special tools needed to change or turn the rotors? I dont have a big shop or anything but do have the tools to do most repairs. Just wondering if this is a job to take somewhere or do it yourself. Thanks! Can I replace my brakes/rotors myself? Its cheaper to get a new rotor ($20) than to have a shop lathe it for you. With the wheel and caliper off. To remove the rotor all you need to do is remove two screws in the middle of the rotor. It takes a fatheaded Phillips screwdriver.

I would rate it a 3 out of 10 on the difficulty scale. Can I replace my brakes/rotors myself?Disc brakes are probably on of the easiest things for a do it yourselfer. If you've never done it before either buy a repair manual or have someone with experience help you. If the rotors need to be turned you can't do them yourself unless you have a brake lathe. Most auto parts stores like Autozone, O'Reilys, Carquest, NAPA, etc can turn them for you. It's pretty easy. Can I replace my brakes/rotors myself? You can change your own brakes and rotors! For the rotors you have to have a rotor tool. It is a three pronged tool to pull the rotors off.Can I replace my brakes/rotors myself?ya listen to them they know what there talking about, but ya take it to a repair man it will get done in no time and its not real exspensive if you already have the part. hope this helps. Can I replace my brakes/rotors myself?Actually it is EXPENSIVE they will charge you about $50 just for changing the pads and that you can do in 30 minutes. so unless you make like 50 dollars an hour. DO IT YOURSELF IS NOT SO DIFFICULTCan I replace my brakes/rotors myself? What I do is easy. Take the car and put jack stands under both sides and remove both tires. Now working on one side at a time remove the cal. and the rotor. OK, now put it back together in reverse. If you forgot how, to use the other side to reminder you. You should still have a repair book with you. Good wrenchingCan I replace my brakes/rotors myself? It's is esy to change brakes and rotors DIY. To remove the old rotors you need to remove brake caliper brackets first. Once the brackets come off, the rotors should be easy to remove. There are screws that hold the rotors down, use lots of WD40 on them and use appropriate screw driver to take them out. If the rotors are hard to come off, use the screw(one you take out from rotors) to drive them out(there should be screw hole/s on the rotors). If you already have tools to do most repairs then you don't have to worry about special tools, but a torque wrench would help to tighten nuts and bolts to manufacturer's specifications. Can I replace my brakes/rotors myself? When you pull the wheel off and there are bolts through the hub,you cannot ,without replacing the bearings, replace the rotors. They are pressed together.

I wish all the Wannabes would find another category to B/S in.

    Brake Rotors?

How often do brake rotors usually need to be changed? I got a 1996 bmw sedan and i changed the brake rotors maybe 8,000-10,000 miles ago and know the brakes are starting to make some noices again so I was hoping its just the pads not the rotors also.Brake Rotors? The rotors won't typically make the noise by themselves.

The pads will wear a lot faster than most rotors. When you have a brake job done, they typically will replace the pads and measure the rotors to see if they are still within specifications. If they are, and can be machined, they will machine the rotors. Which basically makes the rotors smooth again to give the brakes a good surface to press against.

If you let the brake pads either %26quot;bite%26quot; into the rotors by going metal to metal or even some squeal plates make a gouge in the rotors they won't be able to machine them and you'll need to get them replaced.

If you are just starting to hear noise, go get the brakes inspected before they %26quot;bite%26quot; into the rotors too deeply.Brake Rotors?Extremely helpful but wrong. Brake rotors can absolutely cause noise and on German cars the rotors wear at the same rate as the pads. That is how they are engineered. I've replaced thousands of german brakes, I know.

Brake Rotors?if it squeaks every 2 seconds its the padsBrake Rotors? Its a BMW. As is typical of European design the pads and rotors are engineered to wear out at the same time.Brake Rotors?Rotors are ok I would have the pads inspected see how much life is left to them if you need brake pads then they will resurface the rotors. If you have drum brakes in the rear have them or you perform a clean and adjust this will help extend the life of the front pads cause they wont have to work as hard. If you have disc brakes in the rear do the same as the front. Also all rotors have a measurement to them and where you get your work done should be taking measurements of your rotors before performing any work. I hope this info is helpful.Brake Rotors? If you do not have a pulsating feel when you apply the brakes, it isn't the rotors.

Did you change the pads yourself?

Did you use brake grease on the caliper pins when you reinstalled them? This is an overlooked item. Not greasing those pins will cause the caliper to not float freely, the brakes will bind up and make your brakes squeal.

    Do you drive hard?

You may have overheated the brake pads and heat-cracked them.

The only way to check them is to take them off again and inspect the pads for heat stress cracks.Brake Rotors? If you replaced them 10,000 miles ago they will not need to be changed.

Have the pad's changed and the rotors might have to be turned, which is where they put the rotors on a lathe and cut a clean straight surface on them. This can typically be done twice before they have to be replaced.

If when you put the brakes on the car shudders slightly this is an indication that they need turned. If there is any kind of audible noise it's most likely just the pads.Brake Rotors?forget the other answers. The squealing is caused by %26quot;squealers%26quot;, they are attached to the brake pads and come into contact with the rotors when your brake pads become worn. Unless your steering wheel vibrates when you brake and the rotors are within a certain thickness, they should be fine.Have the pads changed by a Reputable shop, and if possible watch them do it as alot of places will rip you off.Brake Rotors?Ever since Asbestos was outlawed for use in brake pads the industry has had to make more agressive friction material. These agressive brake pads grind the rotors at an advanced rate but 10,000 miles is too fast even for the new pads. You may need to change rotors everytime you redo the front brakes but they should last for 30,000 miles. Probably something else is making the noise but check the linings first just because it is the easiest thing to do. Then look to see if anything is gouging the rotor, and what it is. Check the wheel bearings too. If the caliper has frozen on one side it will have used up the other pad quickly. Do your home work. You will find it.Brake Rotors?Get a micro meter and measure. Most BMW automotive books can tell you the acceptable thickness of the rotor. Generally, BMW rotors will last up 80K - 120K miles.

BMW cars have computer controlled pads wear sensors. They are located in Front Left wheel, and Rear Right wheel. So if it is a pads wear problem, your %26quot;brake lining%26quot; light would come on, telling you to replace the pads.

Make sure they don't use cheap stuff from autozone or advance auto parts.I wonna know if i can take my 1986 oldsmobile ninety-eight to a GM dealer to get a good tune up and about how?sure you can take it to them. it will cost mabye 150I wonna know if i can take my 1986 oldsmobile ninety-eight to a GM dealer to get a good tune up and about how?Unless you have too much money in your wallet I would recomend you take your car to a reputable neibourhood garage (get recomendations from friends or your father's friends) A dealer will charge you 2-3 times more.

Go in and get written estimates that show parts and labour separtely before taking your car in. Some mechanics will let you buy your own parts and that can save you money sometimes.

In my area in Ontario I would expect to pay about: $50 for wires. Cap %26amp; Rotor $10-15. Fuel filter $2. Oil %26amp; filter $15-20.

I would guesstimate total labour at $100-$300.

Why not do the Cap and Rotor and wires yourself, it is pretty simple. Just pull off and replace one part at a time. One wire at a time so you don't get them mixed-upI wonna know if i can take my 1986 oldsmobile ninety-eight to a GM dealer to get a good tune up and about how?sure, they will tune it for you. after all, its a gm product.

How do you know when a brake rotor is bad? How do you know when they need to be turned?

I've looked everywhere for answers to these questions. I've just changed my brake pads but am unsure how brake rotors are supposed to look or feel. What does turning them do? If a rotor isn't perfectly smooth, what effect does it have on your brakes? Thanks. How do you know when a brake rotor is bad? How do you know when they need to be turned?get rid of that Toyota van already, Ray!!! do you see many of these on the road? there's a reason why not......How do you know when a brake rotor is bad? How do you know when they need to be turned?Rotors over time wear thinner in thickness..... for each make/model there is a minimum thickness of the rotor before it is deemed unusable or unsafe..

if the rotor isn;t perfectly smooth it will wear the brake pads abnormally or faster sicne it has to grind itself down to fit the grooves of the rotorHow do you know when a brake rotor is bad? How do you know when they need to be turned? If the rotor needs turned you will feel a vibration while braking.

They are usually stamped with the minimum thickness that they should be turned to near the wheel stud area.

I personally never turn them, and just buy new ones because the new rotors usually cost only a few more dollars than the cost to turn the old ones. How do you know when a brake rotor is bad? How do you know when they need to be turned?the rotors should be turned everytime the brakes are replaced so the pads break in evenly and you get full pad upon brakeing, the symptions of a bad or warped rotor is a pulsating feeling in the brake pedal when applying the brakes. How do you know when a brake rotor is bad? How do you know when they need to be turned?Typically a bad rotor will either be warped (high bumps in random places) or wavy (high and low spots radiating out from the center). You can use a straight edge to see how straight the rotor is in various areas to get an idea if its ok or not. But honestly with the low price of imported rotors at most parts stores, virtually no one turns rotors anymore. My friend who runs his own shop sold off his rotor resurfacer several years ago, you can't charge customers 15 bucks a rotor to turn them when new ones are 25, so you don't waste your time you just sell them the new rotor and make your money marking those up and installing them. How do you know when a brake rotor is bad? How do you know when they need to be turned? If your steering wheel shakes when you apply the brakes you should have them turned. If you noticed that the rotors looked as if they had grooves worn around them, you should have them turned. If you had hot spots or discoloration, it wouldn't hurt to have them turned. If you've had them turned more than once or twice and a lot of material was removed then you should consider having them replaced. The guy turning them should be able to put a set of mics on them and tell you if they are getting too thin to turn again. How do you know when a brake rotor is bad? How do you know when they need to be turned?i own a shop and you can look at them and see if the have grooves cut in them or odd markings on them that shouldn't be there, they should look smooth, you can also tell this by if they wobble when you put your foot on the brake pedal also,if you feel it go up and down a lot this means their warped, most of the time you can just remove the wheel and rotate the rotor a little and see if it wobbles or has deep grooves in it,if you see any of this you either need to get these turned or get new ones for it,good luck with it,i hope this helps. How do you know when a brake rotor is bad? How do you know when they need to be turned?a brake rotor has a musurement on each car, most of the time marked on the inside of the rotor.if you put pads on its a good idea to have thrm turned.reason is there can be high and low spots on the surface and this can cause the brakes to shakeor make the car jerk when applied.most rotors get damaged by the driving habits of the driver,if you drive fast and hit your brakes to make a quik stop, that causes the rotors to get the high spots in them.also riding the brake will cause this.if you drive regular and not alot of stopping involved, you wont have to cut the rotors too much.just enought to get the layer off the surface of the rotor from build up.How do you know when a brake rotor is bad? How do you know when they need to be turned?a good brake shop will take a micrometer that measures thickness and measure each rotor, then compare results to the measurements that is stamped on each rotor/hub if within limits they usually turn them and that provides a smooth surface for the brake pads -----with a un-even surface or a ridged surfaced that will cause the pads to be ridged or not wear evenlyHow do you know when a brake rotor is bad? How do you know when they need to be turned?the rotors make a squeeking noise and when you stop you kind of have a buzzing sound and it will harm your brakes life and its better that you change them as soon as possibly because the brake life will go out and it will get ruinedHow do you know when a brake rotor is bad? How do you know when they need to be turned?Your rotors can be spot checked with this trick. If you can not write a smooth line across the surface of the rotor with a regular ball-point pen; it needs to be turned if it has enough thickness to be machined. What I mean is to try to write your signature in several places on the %26quot;cleaned%26quot; rotor, without any blank spots or skipping, if you can; the rotors are smooth enough for good pad contact.

This only works on solid faced rotors; this is Yahoo Answers after all.How do you know when a brake rotor is bad? How do you know when they need to be turned?the rotors should be turned every time you replace the brake pads. they should be as smooth as a babys butt on the surface that they touch the brake pads. rotors can only be turned down to a safe minimum thickness which is measured in hundredths of an inch. take them to your local parts store to have them measured and possibly turned. if you dont have them turned, the uneven ness (sp) and grooves take away from the total surface area that your brake pads touch them and your brakes will overheat. the excessive friction on the smaller surface area creates intense heat. the pads and the rotors should mate up together nice and smooth. if you dont turn them and the heat builds up the rotors will warp, or become out of round laterally causing a pulsating feeling in the brake pedal. How do you know when a brake rotor is bad? How do you know when they need to be turned?when your rotors are bad,you will get a pulsation in your brakes, and when you get the rotors turned, you should get even braking action, without pulsations.

Whats wrong w my 1995 chevy astro?

addendum to last question,I couldn't figure out how to add to it again,.I changed plugs, cap, rotor, noticed gas coming out of valve on one of the fuel lines after I was done, while I was tuning it up,i pushed on valve w a screwdriver to see if I had pressure, not much it seemed.I don't have a fuel pressure tester,I didn't even know what the valve was,I THINK,it's pressure relief valve, there's a proper name for it somewhere, and yes,I do use a lot of punctuation.Should a little gas come out of this valve?Maybe as it re-pressurizes?To answer my own question about whats wrong w van:it's 15 yrs old and has over 250,000 miles on it,but I'm broke and jobless, might as well fix what I can, huh?Whats wrong w my 1995 chevy astro? The valve that your talking about sounds like the fuel pressure test port. After you crank over your motor a few times it should have a good bit of fuel spray come out of it when press in on the center of the valve. If you don't have a fuel pressure tester to be sure that it's got enough pressure, you could either find somebody that does or just replace the fuel pump.Maybe with a used one from a junk yard.Whats wrong w my 1995 chevy astro?ur pressure relief valve should not b leaking fuel......but anyway to pressurize it u simply turn the key to run...fuel pump should kick on and pressurize the system...

btw u can usually rent a fuel pressure tester in most parts store's loan-a-tool programs...

and u left out plug wires if u didn't change those it needs to b done....and btw old trick i used is i always wrap plug wires with electric tap at least 2 layers thick b4 i install them.......makes the cheapies work almost as good as the high dollar ones.....makes them last longer too.....

even do it with accel 300+ race wires on race cars...

How come my car is not getting any spark? Any help please?

so lets start with what exactly happened.

So I went to the car, and i turned the key, and all I hear is the cranking noise like its trying to start, but it never does.

I did a timing test and its showing that I have no sparks at all in all of the 4 cylinders.

I changed the cap, rotor, spark plugs, and spark plug wires. I didnt buy the dizzy because it was the most expensive unit, and now Kragen is closed. Do you guys think it might be the distributor? if not, then what else? thanks.

Fuel questions for 91 civic 1.5 liter?

My civic is getting worse. I know enough about engines to be dangerous. When the problem started I suspected an old ignition system so I changed everything.. cap, rotor, wires and plugs. No changes.

What it does is if you drive at a constant speed it stutters and loses power.

My next thought is it might be injectors. This car has a throttle body with two injectors. What I have to do to drive without sputtering down the road is accelerate very fast to the speed I want, then coast until I lose 5 or 10 mph, then give it the gas real hard until i get back up to speed and then coast again.

It kind of seems like one of the injectors might not be doing it's job due to the fact that when I give it a lot of gas and it needs to use both injectors its fine, but when I smooth out and try to hold a constant speed and only the primary injector is needed it sputters. (My logic of how the injectors work and when in this throttle body may be very wrong.. I said I knew enough to be dangerous)

If anyone has any (helpful) opinions on what might be wrong or what else I should check before shelling out money for new parts that may or may not fix the problem I would really appreciate it.

Oh.. almost forgot.. When the car is cold and I start it it skips and sputters very badly until it warms up. It idles very nice after its warm.. doesn't overheat..accelerates fine until you get into higher rpm's (4500 or so) then it skips and sputters unless you put your foot on the floor.

I know there are some honda ppl out there who know exactly what is wrong. Show me how much you know about Honda's and save me some time and money and possibly a long walk in the snow when it finally does take a diveFuel questions for 91 civic 1.5 liter?I had the same problem on my civic. Although i never got it fixed i was suspicious of the (tps) throttle positioning sensor. I would have it at cruise speed maintaining it and it would sputter. then i would punch it and it would react.

I went through hell. i chipped the ecu, i changed like two sets of cables, rotor cap. i even took out the distributor and it was all good. i changed fuel pump, fuel filters.. you name it i changed. it.

The best thing you can do to pin point the problem is to take it in to a shop where they can run a diagnostic check up on it. that way you wont end up spending so much money like i did!

Good luck and if you ever find out what it was email me, im curious!Fuel questions for 91 civic 1.5 liter?Change your fuel filter and replace the service screw with a fuel pressure gauge when you re-install it. A fuel filter is $12 and a fuel pressure gauge is around the same but will easily tell you whether you have adequate fuel pressure. You should have between 30-40 PSI of fuel pressure when you initially prime the fuel pump.

This will eliminate a clogged fuel filter and tell you whether or not your fuel pump is going bad.

As far as the idle goes, you should check/clean the idle air control valve and test the fast idle thermo valve per the service manual directions.Fuel questions for 91 civic 1.5 liter?I would try unplugging the map sensor and see if it makes any difference at all. if that does not work try replacing the whole intake manifold you can find dpfi manifolds on ebay, junkyards, or parts cars for under 50 they dont go for much there not in demand
