How much does it cost to change your brake pads and rotors?
I just went for my NY inspection. They wanted to charge me $ 600.00 to change my brake and rotors. I drive a 2003 ford explorer. Does that seem about right? How much does it cost to change your brake pads and rotors?Who's %26quot;they%26quot;? According to fordparts.com, front brake pads for your 2003 Explorer cost $97.49US (part number 4L2Z-2001-BA), and front brake rotors cost $89.67US each (part number 4L2Z-1125-AA). So, if we do the math here, that's $276.83US in parts alone. Since you mention NY, I'm assuming that labour rates in that area go for around $100.00US per hour. Typically, most dealers pay their techs 1.5 hours to replace front brake pads and brake rotors. That means at $150.00US plus $276.83US works out to about $426.83US plus taxes. That doesn't sound too far off from the $600 you were quoted if you add the taxes in. Hope this helps. How much does it cost to change your brake pads and rotors?Wow umm rotors(sport ones) are about$250 for a 2003 Ford Explorer. And pads are about $85. that is an insane amount to charge for that simple of a job. i would buy the parts and find a friend that is somwhat mechicaly talanted. its so easy. im 16 and i can do it.How much does it cost to change your brake pads and rotors?I think that's right...because i believe you have 4 rotors! rear and front. I just paid $320 to change my rotors and that was all just on parts and i only have 2 rotors. So i believe that's around the price. Look up the price of your rotors %26amp; Brake pads like on autozone.com and add the price for the repair which is like $50 something dollers per hr. which should only be an hr maybe 1 1/2 hours tops! How much does it cost to change your brake pads and rotors?you can do it your self three or four times for that price ... front pads 25 bucks rear about the same rotors vary.. call any auto parts store and get a price for parts and you wil see.. most of the time a brake job just for pads start about 100 bucks which is high knowing what i know i do it all my self maybe a couple hundred but it sounds high .. call a few places ..... ask how much to replace it alll pads and rotors front and back....which hardy ever needed now if you dont need rotors which most of the time you dont unless you have wore them out or they been grinding.. you can look the price up autozone.comHow much does it cost to change your brake pads and rotors?Rip off! If you can find someone to do the brakes and rotors for you do it. auto zone has the best price for those type of parts. Only paid $130.00 for brakes and rotors there and $80.00 for labor for the person to do it.
How to remove the rotors from a honda 2000 civic?
i try changing the rotors on my Honda..and took the brake frame out and everything...but i noticed that the rotors are screwed in...never seen this before..because usually you can just pull em out..also the +shape screws are rusted and hard to get out...can any0ne help? thanksHow to remove the rotors from a honda 2000 civic? Those sonofas are horribly annoying...
When I was trying to get that kind of rotor off I managed to get on it with a Ryobi cordless drill with the screwdriver tip on it, for the screws..
If it's how I think it is, you might be in a world of hurt...

If they are regular rotors like that they should just slide off, maybe a small bit of persuasion...
but if they are the kind where the studs don't go through the holes, then you'd need to remove the axel nut, probably use a slide hammer... loads of crap which is why I gave up on the front rotors for
my dad's accord...

How thick should your rotors be?
ok so i have a 93 acura legend and i just changed my brakes but would like to know if i have to change my rotors. i usually change the rotors with the brakes at the same time but this time i did not. how thick should the rotors be? also is there a product i can spray on them to make them last longer or be more efficient. any info on rotors would be greatHow thick should your rotors be?your minimum thickness should be stamped on the rotor itself, and spraying anything on the rotor is a bad idea. any brake quite i have ever seen or used goes on the back of the pad between the backing plate and the caliper/ piston itself. those rotors should last you longer than the life if a set of pads. btw you can pick up brake quite or something similar at your local p[art storeHow thick should your rotors be?10w 30w oil will make them last longer and I'll bet they don't squeak either. How thick should your rotors be?NEVER put oil on you rotors or pads!!!

The good news is that there's nothing special about these brakes, and any competent mechanic can change them. Use an independent and save a bunch of money.
I'm currently using Pagid pads and ATE rotors on my E320. I believe those are the stock brands, and they aren't expensive if you buy from independents. If you're buying parts yourself, don't forget to pick up new wear indicators. The other thing to remember is that the rear disks are different, depending on whether you have a sedan or wagon.I need new brake pads and/or rotors for my 2002 Benz E320,whats the best types and brands for pads and rotors?Rotors:

How to do brake repair for ford 1992 f150?
I'd like to find a site or get some help. i'd like to change the rotors and pads myself on my ford 1992 f150 but the manual lockouts for the fourwheel drive are in the way and I dont want to mess them up. HELP PleaseHow to do brake repair for ford 1992 f150?This is a tough question - F-150's had two hub styles, and for some dumb reason, the brakes are totally different. Here's what we need to know:
Do you have Ford manual hubs with no screws around the perimeter (oddball), or do you have aftermarket manual hubs with screws around the perimeter, that look like they'd also fit a Jeep or a Chevrolet.
Either way, you could probably find both answers in a half-decent manual.

Why is my 2002 Ford Escort ZX2 doing this?
I've got about 70k miles on it. I recently had the rotors changed and am getting the timing belt changed tomorrow due to 1 rib of the belt breaking off (which, btw, it has still allowed me to drive 600 miles in 1 week since breaking because the rest is still intact) I've noticed that upon acceleration from a stop that no matter how hard or soft I press on the gas, my E-brake light will come on for just a few seconds. It started after the rotor change (a long while after) and before the timing belt broke, but before, it would only do it sometimes. Since the timing belt incident, it does it on every from-stop acceleration, and even occasionally as I am turning a corner. Could it be because of the timing belt, or is it something different? I do my own routine maintenance such as oil changes, fluid changes and other minor things, but, this car was bought used and I have added over 30k miles in 8 months. Any other suggestions on keeping my manual-tranny girl running smoothly? Why is my 2002 Ford Escort ZX2 doing this?do not need to replace the pulleys. never heard of doing that, even on a second or third Timing belt. unless there was some type of problem with them. At 70k, that is about the right time for a timing belt. The Brake light is usually both for the E-brake and for the Brakes in general. It sounds like what you may have is low fluid in the master cylinder, and on turns and acell the remaining fluid is moving to uncover the contacts. check your brake fluid level, it should be at the full mark on the side of the M/C (outside molded into the plastic if the resivour). Just change the belt, unless the Mech can show you as to why it needs new sprockets.
